Menurut ahli perkebunan, Alan Titschmarsh mengatakan bahwa terdapat magic mushroom di kebun Ratu Buckingham Palace. Hal itu berdasarkan pengamatannya setelah mengikuti tur istana untuk acara khusus ITV, The Queen’s Garden, yang akan tayang pada 25 Desember mendatang.
Untuk menyakinkan pendapatnya, Titschmarsh meminta pendapat ahli ekologi Profesor Mick Crawley. Bahwa tanaman tersebut bernama Amanita muscaria atau fly agaric dan dapat dimakan.
“That depends what you mean. It's eaten in some cultures for its hallucinogenic affects. But it also makes people who eat it very sick. The old-fashioned thing to do was to feed it to the village idiot, then drink his urine because you get all of the high without any of the sickness,” kara Crawley.
“I won’t be eating any of that. I think I’ll forgo that and stick to normal mushrooms,” tambah Titschmarsh. Selanjutnya, Titschmarsh menjelaskan bagaimana jamur tersebut tumbuh. Jamur dapat tumbuh di mana saja, termasuk di properti Kerajaan Inggris.
“For the avoidance of doubt, fungi from the garden are not used in the Palace kitchens,” jawab juru bicara Buckingham Palace.
